Notable Members
The best known golfers of the early era, were Harold Hilton and John Ball. Between 1890 and 1913 they won between them 3 Open Championships, 12 Amateur Championships and 1 US Amateur. Both were members of Formby in addition to their other clubs of Hoylake, West Lancashire & Lytham. Their names are to be found many times on the Honours Boards in the Club Room.

Walker Cup players include R H Hardman in 1928 and Nick Dougherty in 2001, as well as Alan Thirlwell and Dr David Marsh who joined Formby after their “Championship” years.

Formby has also provided many County players, and Presidents of the EGU and Lancashire.
