Founded in 1896, Formby Ladies' Golf Club has its own 18 hole course and clubhouse
occupying a choice position within the Formby Golf Clube Estate. It is managed independently
from Formby Golf Club.
Formby Ladies' narrow fairways, lined with heather and its small greens protected by well positioned
pot bunkets certainly demand that all golfers play with precision rather than relying on length of shot.
Even a mighty hitter like double Open Champion, Greg Norman, could not disguise his admiration for this
hidden gem when he played it a few years ago. "Over 100 years old and still your course can stand the
test of time" he said. "What a beautiful course, it clearly shows that courses do not need to be 7,000
yards plus to be formidable".
Malcom Gregson ex-Ryder Cup player and European Seniors' Tour pro also praised the layout saying, "It's a
wonderful, testing course, with a premium on accuracy"
