Course Etiquette and Dress Code
Formby Golf Club is a traditional Members Club where smart attire is essential at
all times.
Please note the following:
On the course
Players on the course are expected to maintain a high standard of dress and are
required to wear smart conventional golfing attire with spike or dimpled golf shoes.
- The wearing of tailored shorts is permitted with knee length socks or short sports
socks, which must cover the ankle.
- All shirts must have collars or polo necks and worn inside trousers or shorts.
- All trousers must be tailored.
- Ladies – Skirts or culottes at least knee length.
Players are reminded not wear any of the follows:
- Jeans, tracksuits or shell suits.
- Shorts in the Club House (except in the locker room).
- Vests, t-shirts, rugby or football shirts.
- Ladies – halter necks, short skirts or cut offs.
In the Club House
Ground Floor – Entrance Hall, Hall Bar & Golfers’ Bar.
- Smart casual golfing attire is expected in the ground floor bars.
- Shorts are not allowed in any area of the Club House other than the locker room.
- Golf shoes are only permitted in the Locker room or for the ladies to access their
changing room from the main entrance.
- Trainers, sneakers, sandles and flip flops are not allowed anywhere.
- If you were unlucky enough to be caught out by the rain please leave all wet clothing
/ waterproofs in the drying room and do not wear them in the club house.
First Floor – Dining Room, Club Room. & Snooker Room
- Jacket & Ties are required at all times.
Mobile Phones
Mobile phones must be switched off both on the course and in the club house. They
may be used in emergencies on the course.
Speed of play
The speed of play is fourball unless otherwise agreed. You must call through the
group behind you if you loose sight of the players in front of you.
Tee of the Day
You may only play on the tee of the day which is yellow, unless otherwise indicated.
